BIO: Before retiring to Green Valley in 1999, I grew up, went to school and worked in the mid-west – – Ohio, Illinois and Michigan. I have an engineering degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a MBA degree from the Kellogg School at Northwestern. I spent the last 25 years of my career working for The Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo, MI. There I was responsible for the merger and acquisition activities for the company. Karen and I have two children and three grandchildren.
I became seriously interested in photography and photo editing after I retired, moved to Green Valley and joined the Green Valley Camera Club about 15 years ago. I have a Canon DSLR camera and a collection of lenses, a Panasonic FZ200 “bridge” camera and a Panasonic TS3. I bought the TS3 to use for snorkeling, but found it was a good camera when I just wanted one to stick in my pocket
You will see in my gallery that my photo interests lean toward nature and travel. I have a large collection of butterfly and hummingbird pictures. These are appealing and challenging subjects. Appealing because they are colorful and challenging because they don’t hold still very long. Since our last dog passed away (we owned three golden retrievers over our 50 years of marriage), Karen and I have travelled extensively to places such as New Zealand, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, British Virgin Islands, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Italy, Monaco, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Montenegro, Malta and within the U.S.
This gallery is a small sampling of the gallery on my website at http://jasharrock.zenfolio.com/ or just google: Jack Sharrock Photography. You can also see my work at the Octopus car wash (yes, at the car wash) and at Mountain View Café and Bakery, both at the north end of Green Valley.
